The
Awards Committee is made up of representatives from around the State of Illinois
as well as the chairperson. We meet formally once per year to review the award
nominations and select recipients—therefore, your participation on this
committee is rewarding without a significant time commitment!

Annual Awards
Criteria/Nomination Process
Each year, the
IPCSA Awards Committee solicits nominations from Association members to identify
colleagues who have made significant contributions to their counties and to the
profession. The annual awards banquet is the primary forum in the state to
recognize the dedication and commitment of probation and court service
professionals. The Awards Committee encourages your participation in the
nomination process.
Nomination Process
Five awards are
selected by the Awards Committee: Distinguished Service Awards, Robert E.
Burdine – Officer of the Year Award, William C. Albertson Award, Pauline
Gansauer Award, and the Gene Hughes Award. In addition, the Executive Board
works with the Awards Committee to identify worthy recipients for the IPCSA
Exemplary Service Award, the S. William Ettinger Award, and the President’s
Award.
In
collaboration with the University of Illinois at Springfield, Institute for
Legal and Policy Studies, an Innovative Leadership Award will be presented
annually to the Program in Probation or Detention that exemplifies innovation
and leadership in offender program development with demonstrated evidence of
effective outcomes (see attached information sheet).
All Association
members in good standing can nominate an Association member for an award. The
criteria for the awards are outlined below. All Award nomination must be
signed/reviewed by the local CMO or committee chair prior to submission. Please
forward all nomination on the Association Awards Nomination Form to the
designated Awards Chairperson (see attached form).
Awards Criteria
Distinguished Service Award
for Achievement/Contribution to Department (formally known as – Recognition
Awards):
1)
Must be a current IPCSA member;
2)
Must be employed at least two (2)
years with the nominating circuit/county;
3)
Nominee has made a significant
achievement/contribution to the department
(this
must be described); and
4.) Nominee
has not received this award within the past five (5) years.
Gene Hughes Award: This
award will be presented to a member who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee,
has exemplified the highest standards of the profession*.
Pauline Gansauer Award:
This award will be presented to a member who, in the opinion of the Awards
Committee, has exemplified the highest standards in the field of dedication*.
William C. Albertson Award:
This award will be presented to a member who, in the opinion of the Awards
Committee, has exemplified the highest standards in the field of
achievement*.
S. William Ettinger Award:
This award will be presented to a member who, in the opinion of the Awards
Committee, has exemplified the highest degree of dedication/service to the
Association*.
Exemplary Service Award:
This award will be presented to an individual from the community who has
served to further probation and court services through their dedication and
commitment within the private sector.
Robert E. Burdine – Officer
of the Year Award: This award will be presented to a member who, in the
opinion of the Awards Committee, has exemplified the highest standards of the
profession by the specific accomplishments and/or contribution to his/her
department.
- (Nominee must have a minimum of 7 years
experience within the profession to be eligible.)
Nomination Process
Please use the
IPCSA Nomination Form (Word .doc).
You may photocopy this form, or use the form provided. To nominate an
individual for a Distinguished Service Award, complete the face sheet and
question #1. Mail the completed nomination form to the Awards Committee
Chairperson.
To nominate an
individual for a Major Award, please complete the face sheet and all five
questions.
Please note: There
is no application to complete in regards to the Leadership Award.
Protocols
Please note this
nomination process should be considered confidential. The Association’s Awards
Committee will receive the submission of all award nominations. The Committee
retains the authority to determine eligibility/compliance with appropriate award
criteria. Members of the Awards Committee are not eligible for
nominations/awards in the calendar year they are active on the committee.
Submission of a nomination does not guarantee the individual will receiver the
award.
ALL NOMINATIONS MUST BE
POSTMARKED BY THE DEADLINE AS STATED.
