Annual Plan for 2005
Gender Responsive Committee
Chairpersons:
Ava Carpenter, Sangamon County
Melissa Spooner, Cook County
Tracy Phillabaum, DuPage County
Committee objectives: Within
the last year we worked on expanded our membership of the committee, exploring
fundraising activities, holding a craft sale and a 50/50 raffle, and bringing in
highly qualified speakers for our bi-annual conferences. Unofficially we have
had around 10-12 people attend the meetings that have been held at the
conferences, and approximately 6 at the meetings held at Kane County between
conferences. At these committee meetings we discussed matters such as future
conference speakers and workshop topics, the focus of the committee, upcoming
events in the area of female responsive programs, creating a catalog of female
offender programming that is currently up and running throughout the state, and
the vision for the committee. It was decided by the committee that we would
once again host a craft sale at the Spring ’05 conference in Rockford, IL.
Goals for the upcoming year
include:
-
Continued expansion of membership to
the committee
-
Identify significant training needs,
topics and locate funding
-
Create a “catalog” of gender responsive
programming currently offered throughout the state
-
To hold our second annual spring
conference craft sale and have it be more successful than the first
-
Brainstorm other fund raising
events/opportunities
-
Explore the opportunity of opening an
account for our committee in which we can deposit any funds we raise through
fund raising events
Budget requested: $500-700.00
for a gender responsive speaker and for art supplies to offer counties in order
for female offenders to create crafts for the sale at the spring conference.
