Annual Plan for 2006
Awards Committee
Chairperson:
Sandra DeNicholas
Department of Probation and Court Services
18th Judicial Circuit Court
503 N. County Farm Road
Wheaton, Illinois 60187
(630) 407-8358
Committee
Members: James Collinet, Cook County
Frank Morelli, Lake County
Ed Swies, Cook County
Committee objectives:
Goals include soliciting nominations from a variety of counties,
determining if criteria had been followed for all nominations, maintaining
confidentiality, and generating interest in the committee across the state. In
2005, twelve (12) counties were represented as winners of awards—9 less than in
2004. Each nomination was reviewed to determine compliance with criteria and
those that were not in compliance were not given consideration. It appeared as
though confidentiality was not an issue again this year. At the Fall 2005
awards banquet, 37distinguished service awards were presented, in addition to
the major awards. Those who received awards will also get a picture and
congratulatory letter. The University of Illinois at Springfield presented the
Leadership Award. Projected budget: $50 miscellaneous/meeting expenses
New and Continuing
Objectives:
1.)
To continue soliciting nominations
from all counties. Information regarding nominations/criteria should be
included in both IPCSA newsletters, as well as presented at the conference
breakfast meetings. Also, information for the website needs to be updated.
2.)
To encourage/solicit major award
nominations from a variety of counties, since only a few counties typically send
in these nominations.
3.)
To encourage membership in the
committee at the business meetings and in the newsletter.
4.)
To further acknowledge award winners by sending them a
Congratulations letter with a copy of their picture
attached.
5.)
To maintain confidentiality amongst committee members in regards to
process and winner identification.
6.)
To have full attendance by committee members at the annual meeting.
7.)
To continue collaborating with the
University of Illinois at Springfield in regards to the Leadership Award.
8.)
To have more communication with
individuals who submit nominations, i.e. letter of thanks for submitting awards,
letter informing those who nominate major award recipients the status of their
nomination, etc.
