C.M.O. - Chief Managing Officers

Our mission is to : Act as a forum for probation and court services CMO's in Illinois to disseminate information, discuss timely topics, and plan initiatives to promote community corrections through IPCSA.

IPCSA FALL MEETING MINUTES

 The Illinois Probation and Court Services Chief Managing Officers (CMO) Committee met on September 1, 2004 in Chicago, Illinois.  IPCSA President Linda Van Dyke thanked everyone for the collaborative efforts put forth to make the conference happen and thanked everyone for the support and cooperation she has received during her term as president of the Association.

Jim Grundel, Assistant Director of AOIC applauded the conference agenda and addressed various topics including: The National Institute of Corrections Initiative/What Works Project; the Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative and the CJIA study; and statewide budget reductions.

Cara Smith, Policy Director for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and Chairman of The Sex Offender Management Board spoke about changes in laws regarding sex offenders.  Topics included the “approved provider” list and reimburse-ments for evaluations for indigent sex offenders.  In addition, HB 7057, the Sex Offender Registry and the proposal for lifetime supervision of sex offenders was discussed.           

Jeff Brown, a treatment provider, discussed Juvenile treatment standards and S.O.M.B.

Mike Shaugnessey, IPCSA Legislative Committee Chairman and John McCabe, the Associations’s lobbyist, discussed legislative initiatives proposed, passed and/or considered during the 93rd Session of the Illinois General Assembly.

Jamie West and Sara Broyles of the IPCSA Substance Abuse Committee made a presentation regarding Drugged and Drunken Driving month (October).
