Review Objectives for 2005:

This past year the committee continued to build our data base of program descriptions. Due to changes of our committee members job descriptions, and Mr. Carter leaving AOIC , it was decided to put the resource manual on hold.

Objectives for 2006:

1. To find and train a new committee chairman.

2. To continue to visit, collect data on programs around the state, and enlarge our library of program descriptions. .

3. To develop a link with the State of Illinois Corrections Department, Programing Unit

so that parolees will receive into a continuum of treatment at day- Evening Reporting Programs.

Proposed Budget: $ 50.00 for postage , mailings and copying.

Our next committee meeting will be at Bloomington, at the Law and Justice Building on August 18, 2005 at 10:00am.

Minutes from the

Day/Evening Reporting Committee.

April 13, 2005

The committee had it*s meeting in Rockford as a part of the IPCSA Spring Conference. Due to some confusion about assigning the schedule for meeting rooms our attendance was low. I apologize for any inconvenience caused to our members who could not locate our meeting. When it was discovered that our meeting room was set up for the executive board breakfast we all got very hungry. When we were told that we were not invited we were " soooo blue. " So we moved the meeting to the restaurant where we happily regained our composure.

Our committee ended up meeting in the restaurant for about one hour. Discussions was held about completing the resource manual and how to overcome the production problems that the committee is dealing with, It was also decided that our committee would like to sponcer a workshop on the benefits of horticulture gardens and flowers to high risk youth. The program would be in collaboration with the University of Illinois extension Center, Manard, Sangamon County Units. We are trying to contact counties that have programs of this type going on. Ben Manley announced that he will be resigning as chairman of this committee in fall 2006. The committee is seeking names from IPCSA members who would like to serve as officers of this committee.

Day/Evening Reporting Committee (updated 6/05)

Our committee has been busy completing the resource manual of reporting programs around the state. We have become bogged down because committee members have had regular work assignments realigned due to budget considerations. This has left less free time for our committee members to complete the project. We are in the process of redistributing assignments in an effort to complete the project in a timely manner.

The Day/Evening Committee has requested to sponsor a workshop about the benefits of horticulture gardens and growing flowers. There is research-based evidence that these programs lower anxiety, and reduce recidivism. The presentation would be at the fall IPCSA convention. The program would be in collaboration with the University of Illinois Extension Center, Mansard, Sangamon County Units. We are trying to locate counties that have programs of this type going on. If your county is involved in a gardening horticulture program please contact this committee chairman or any committee member

Due to other responsibilities Ben Manley announced that he will be resigning as chairman of this committee in fall 2006. The committee is seeking names from IPCSA members who would like to serve as officers of this committee.

Our next committee meeting will be at Bloomington, at the Law and Justice Building on August 18, 2005 at 10:00am. 11/2004

The Day-Evening Reporting Committee is happy to report that there are now seventeen reporting centers fully operational in Illinois.   In sentencing medium and low risk offenders; juvenile and adult courts are using  these types of program as an alternative to secure detention. These programs are providing excellent  supervision of the minors at a fraction of the cost of incarceration and at the same time are providing high levels of safety to the community. It has been this committees pleasure to provide information and materials to counties that now have reporting centers.  Additionally, several other counties are in the planning stages for Reporting Centers.

Our committee is currently creating a library of program descriptions. These programs will be a valuable source of information for every county in Illinois. It has become a good source of information to aid in understanding the wide diversity of  programming being used in Reporting Centers. If your County would like to add your reporting center program information to our library, please forward it to the chairman of this committee.

The Day/Evening Reporting Committee is finalizing our data input from the questionnaires sent out last spring. From the data we have gathered, a resource manual is being developed. We are hopeful to distribute them before the spring conference.
