Gender Responsive Committee

IPCSA Gender Subcommittee Minutes

February 16, 2007 Bloomington, IL Bone Center

Those present for the meeting were: Co- Chairs Tracy Phillabaum (DuPage County) and Melissa Spooner (Cook County). Committee member Diane Gonzalez (Lake County Adult Probation).

Resource Guide

Several committee members have been working on the statewide resource guide. To date, we have received material from two of the committee members. Our goal is to have the resource guide complete prior to the conference in April. Once the resource guide is complete, a copy will be forwarded to AOIC to see if any information is missing based on their data.

IPCSA Conference

We discussed the conference in April, 2007 and which committee members will be able to attend. Tracy, Melissa and Ava (co-chairs) will be at the conference and an email will be sent out to the members to see who has been approved to attend.

Craft Sale

Each year our committee hosts a craft sale. We have three full boxes of items remaining from the past years and will use these items for the sale this year. Diane has asked staff in her county to donate some items, and Jana Haskins from Rock Island County is donating items as well. We should receive donations from Warrenville as well as Sangamon County and Cook County. This year we also decided to add a silent auction to the craft sale for more variety. The committee members are donating these items.

Speakers

As a committee, we are encouraged to locate speakers for the conferences. Ideas for the future include Maya Hennessey, Tiffany Seay from Chicago Public Schools and Diane has a contact from Moving On. We will continue to seek out other speakers for conferences.

Membership

Traditionally our meetings in Bloomington have had low attendance. We sent out reminder emails to interested members, however we still had a low turn out. We will discuss future meeting sites at the IPCSA conference. An idea was given to have meetings at a host county so people can see other departments. We will definitely rotate the meeting sites to see if more people will attend the meetings. We also discussed keeping AOIC informed about the meetings since they travel all over the state, and this may help with membership.

Our next meeting will be held at the Bloomington IPCSA conference on April 18, 2007. The meeting will be at 10:00 am and the location will be announced the day of.
