Response Committee
The Gender Responsive Committee held their third annual craft sale at the
2006 Spring Conference. All of the proceeds went to P.O.R.A (Positive, Options,
Referrals and Alternatives). It is an agency in Springfield that provides
housing and counseling for prostitutes. P.O.R.A. also provides assistance with
substance and drug abuse. We presented P.O.R.A. with a check for $164. According
to one of the counselors, this check came at a good time. The following week
they were set to have their annual fundraiser which consists of dinner and a
silent auction. This donation would allow for some of their former clients to
attend.
The committee also met at the spring conference and distributed a resource
book of gender responsive services offered by probation departments in Illinois.
