PRETRIAL SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE
ANNUAL PLAN 2007
Committee Name: Pretrial
Services Advisory Committee.
Chairpersons/County: Anita
Maxey/Macon; Keith Cooprider/Lake County
Total Committee Members:
28.
Results of 2006
Objectives:
- The Committee
maintained constructive communication and a positive working
relationship with the AOIC. Representatives from AOIC attended
Committee meetings on a regular basis and energetically participated in
the Committee’s works-in-progress.
- With the assistance of
AOIC, the Committee completed work on the first statewide
pretrial-services survey. Besides providing a statistical description
of pretrial services programs operating in Illinois, the survey
identified pretrial-related training needs. In addition, the survey
provided the necessary information for the creation and publication of
the State of Illinois Pretrial Services Directory.
- The Committee strongly
advocated for IPCSA’s continued affiliation with the National
Association of Pretrial Services Agencies (NAPSA). The Committee
requested in their 2006 budget funding to cover expenses for two
Committee members to attend this important conference and training
event. Unfortunately, financial appropriations could not be rendered.
- The Committee’s first
newsletter was published. The intent of the newsletter is to
disseminate pretrial “news,” encourage communication and networking
among Illinois’ pretrial practitioners, and support program
development.
Summary of
Objectives for 2007.
- Generate and promote
the participation and involvement of pretrial practitioners at IPCSA
Conferences and Committee meetings.
- Strongly encourage
IPCSA-backed attendance at the 2007 NAPSA Conference in Cleveland, Ohio
for two Committee representatives (see attached letter).
- Continue to work on
developing and refining the Committee Newsletter. Mechanisms for the
ongoing publication and distribution of the newsletter will be reviewed.
- Examine the findings
obtained from the 2006 Pretrial Services Survey, including the
identification of training needs, program development issues, and
compliance with the Illinois Pretrial Services Act, AOIC Pretrial
Procedural Standards and suggested NAPSA Standards.
- Maintain a working
relationship with AOIC by encouraging participation by an AOIC
representative with Committee projects and meetings.
The Committee usually will
meet at least four times per year: at the Fall and Spring IPCSA Conferences
and at summer and winter meetings at Illinois State University, Normal, IL.
2006 meetings were consistent with this schedule.
